National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is February 7th. We had a table set up to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the Black community as well as promote practicing safe sexual relations. Ms. Sheila Rolle did a marvelous job collecting pamphlets and condoms to make goody bags to give out. The color ribbon for HIV/AIDS is red. It is also the color for Go Red for Women (Heart Health Month) as well as the color of choice for all things Valentine’s (it’s also just happened to be my favorite color). This empowered Afro, along with the fact that I was on a pipe cleaners kick (chenille stems), is very fitting in it’s shout-’em-loud-red color.
