I was inspired to do this after seeing the artwork of Ron Narovski. You can check out his work at Feathers from Above. I gave it my best shot…well in about 15 minutes. It’s much harder than it looks. I had a hard time keeping the feathers flat and tried painting the feather first to harden it. It dried apart in some places. Mr. Narovski says he got the idea from Native American art. They have a long tradition of hand-painting feathers for their costumes and headdress to look like the feathers of eagles, hawks and owls. The artistry progressed to other designs. Now, hundreds of artists paint on feathers and do an amazing job. Check out a few here collected on Pinterest painted feathers.
My feeble attempt doesn’t even honor the tradition but I gave it a try anyway.
