To the most wonderful aunt/mom anyone could ever ask for,
We want you to know how much we love you and care about you. No matter what we do for you, it could never be enough to show you how grateful we are that you are in our lives. We thank God everyday that He continually wraps his loving arms around you and protects you throughout your day, and we pray that He gives us another day on Earth to be with you. Thank you for loving us, caring for and about us, being there when we need you, and being our friend. You are a wonderful, remarkable, beautiful and amazing woman. We love you auntie.
Love Nici and Adrian
Adrian and I made this gift together. He drew each of the pictures of the birds using fabric crayons by crayola and then he ironed them onto the fabric. We chose colors that would match her new room decorations. Adrian also helped me with the log cabin blocks. Buttons were used to create the Afro lady in the center and the entire thing was machine stitched and quilted. She says she will proudly hang it up. The theme of birds is a reflection of some of the time she and Adrian share bird watching and discussing different kinds of birds (birds are one of Adrian’s favorite animals – he can tell you all about elf owls to king penguins). Art Afro #13 in which I arranged my mom’s buttons on a counter was one of the Afro’s my aunt said she really liked. It was temporary but I tried to recreate it using blue buttons on the quilt.
This could not have been a more perfect piece for day 70.
