I wanted to try making a stencil but didn’t know how to approach it. One day, I just dove right in. I grabbed a foam sheet and a pen, made a quick sketch and cut it out. The sheet ended up being too thick to use flat. I put paint on the piece I cut out and just pressed it on paper. I didn’t smooth the paint out properly, so the result was not optimal. It’s like all of my training in print making classes went out the window. I’ve done litho, lino, gum arabic, screen printing, plates, etc., and I don’t remember a thing. I even came across my rolling pin I used in a textile course to smooth out ink before printing. I don’t remember any of the process. Google it is. However, my design kind of looks like the continent of Africa.
